Welcome to our website.
Haven and I have created a safe space for recovering food addicts to find recovery in a way we can recover with Compassion. If you are struggling with food addiction or just want to learn more about recovery from food addiction, we are here for you. There are "Gatherings" listed on this site where all can share. There are AWOL's listed where all are welcome. We are an all-inclusive group with a primary purpose to help the newcomer and anyone who might be struggling with food addiction. Click on More to contact Marty or Haven and we will get back to you as soon as we can.
This website is open to anyone wishing to start or join an AWOL or 12th Step Study, Food Recovery Gathering or find fellow members in food recovery. We are food addicts in recovery. We do not represent food addicts as a whole. We are not affiliated with any other 12-Step Program. We are here to help the food addicts who still suffer.
Tradition One states that our common welfare comes first and that personal recovery depends on unity. This website creates unity among the food addicts that have felt marginalized and have been told they can't recover because of medical conditions, needing specialized food plans or food times. They may need a certain number of meals or need to take medications. Members may have religious traditions and other lifestyle needs that have made some sponsorship rules impossible to follow. Our goal is to emulate compassion and follow the true definition of abstinence and recovery - which includes ALL that want to recover from food addiction.
Abstinence from food addiction is defined as complete abstinence from flour and sugar. Our portions are weighed on digital scales and we stick to eating at meal times. We avoid complicated concoctions and the avoidance of any individual binge foods. There is no mention of meal times, number of meals or quantity sizes. If a doctor has suggested a meal plan for you, you can still have abstinence and recover from food addiction.
As stated in Tradition #3 of all 12-step programs, the only requirement for membership is the desire to recover. There are no other rules. If you are struggling in your recovery from food addiction and want to recover, you are welcome here. Our AWOL's are an in depth study of the 12 steps. Any rules you are told about AWOLs are according to the AWOL leaders and not a rule of working the 12 Steps. All you need to do is show up with an open mind.
These are all-inclusive AWOL's. You will not be asked to leave if you are struggling. We offer everyone an opportunity to recover.
